Stoves for smokeless zones
There are many stoves that have been tested and approved for use in smokeless zones / smoke control areas. The stoves are approved for burning certain types of fuel - the ones we list here are all approved for burning wood in smokeless zones. The test essentially ensures that there are not too many particulates in the flue gases given off by the stove. The test is done by firing the stove, filling it with fuel, and then shutting the air vents down. The stoves that pass all have some degree of permanently open air supply - this means that even when the accessible vents are manually shut that oxygen still gets to the firebox, which in turn means that combustion carries on relatively efficiently which keeps the flue gas particulates lower. The 'downside' of this is that you will find it difficult to shut the stove right down. This is a good thing really as a stove works inefficiently when the air supply is severely restricted and you would find the glass getting tarred up too.
In the menu to the left you will find some stoves that are approved for burning wood in smoke control areas / smokeless zones
